Learning outcomes of the course unit
- Development of music and singing skills in group pieces, perception of sound as part of theatre thought.
- Contact with the history of the development of music thought.
- Unison, perception of group creation.
Mode of study
- Lecture.
- Ensemble and solo singing. Playing all types of musical instruments. Working with a microphone, analysis of previously seen (notation) and heard (music recording) pieces.
Prerequisites and co-requisites
- General knowledge of Czech and world music - not limited in genre.
- General knowledge of music notation.
- Creativity.
- Non-verbal communication, analysis and review skills.
The student is to have a general knoweldge of basic music concepts - concurrent attendance of the Music Research course.
Course contents
Curriculum:
- Excerpts from Gregorian chant, negro spirituals, unison folk songs.
- Also practice in compositions according to the instructions of the senior teacher in the actor's workshop.
Syllabus:
- Lord, Have Mercy on Us, Saint Wenceslaus, Seikilo's Song, Hussite songs, It's Me.
- O' Lord, I'm Troubled, Deep River, Czech, Moravian, Silesian, Lassko folk songs, Sub-Carpathian and according to current choice.

Assessment methods and criteria
Credit is awarded based on activity in exercises.
Note
Elective course for all DAMU students. Maximum of 15 students from other DAMU Depts.
