Course contents

Each student will shoot a short situation with the theme „Surprise“, or „Caught in the act“, and give his footage to everyone else in the class.

Then the author makes a director's cut, which must not be shared until screening in class. The rest of the students do their cuts of the same footage without any script, based purely on what they think works best.

In the following classes, those cuts will be screened and compared. In sequences with given subject editing can vary not only in perspective, but also in tone, from comedy to tragedy, from mysterious to sarcastic, and can bring surprising results that show variety and importance of editing.

Content of the first meeting:

introduction, explanation, examples, storyboarding, deciding the style of shooting and editing, tools to get proper coverage

  1. - 6. meetings:

in each screening of all the cuts of one or two projects, comparison, suggestions and analysis

As a result each student will edit a number of short scenes (exact number depending on the number of students) with strong editing potential, and realize the possibilities.
