Learning outcomes of the course unit
Cinemadance fimmaking workshop of FAMU International is one of the crucial ones within the curriculum. Students are busy with all the stages of making a short film within limited time, mentors are always at hand and it is happening out of Prague in a lovely countryside.
Participants of “Photography at Cinemadance” learn how to be part of the filming process and how to contribute with their photographs.

4-day long exercise on location + 1 final meeting back in Prague
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Basic experience with reportage photography.
Course contents
A Photographer is assigned with a film crew and becomes a member of the team. A photography student shoots during the pre-production stage, during the filming itself as well as in the post-production phases. Photography student joins all scheduled meetings from pitching the first ideas to the final screening and they also shoot illustration pictures on site. Teacher shadows Photography students and give them a hand if needed.
Within approximately a week after the workshop, students meet with the teacher to do the final selection of the images (according to the assignment).
Photography outputs:
1.Film reportage, making of
2.Stills from camera’s point of view
3.Reportage from the venue
4.Promotional images. Group pics in interesting places or situations, location and action, processes (such as sound, camera work, editing) emphasizing pictures that may later be used in school promo materials (printed, or on-line).
In each of above mentioned categories student delivers between 5 and 15 retouched photographs, both in hi-res and low-res quality. The delivery standards will be specified by the teacher's input, and fulfilment of this assignment is a prerequisite for successful completion of the exercise.
Students will select the final photo series during their final meeting with teacher after they return back to Prague.
Please note that the first (rough) selection of photographs will be screened along with finished films on site.
