Learning outcomes of the course unit

Upon completion of the course, the student is able to produce a successful study in a given historical compositional style. The student has a detailed understanding of the laws of music of a particular historical period, both theoretically and practically. Knows important composers and their works and demonstrates knowledge of the historical context. The student is able to apply this specific knowledge to his/her own compositions.

Learning objectives:

The aim of the course is a theoretical and practical acquaintance of the student with the music of important and style-forming authors of the late 19th and the first third of the 20th century.

Assessment methods and criteria

To receive credit examination, the student will submit an adequate number (at least 1 for each section) of his/her own compositional studies meeting the required criteria of stylistic purity, demonstrating an understanding of the basic compositional elements of the period and the ability to apply them in practice.

There is no minimum attendance requirement.
