Learning outcomes of the course unit
Miroslav Beinhauer, the only player of the six-tone harmonium in the world, and composer Ian Mikyska will present the history of this instrument, built at the instigation of composer Alois Hába in the 1920s and 1930s, as well as the process of creating more than ten compositions for this instrument in 2021 (Marc Sabat, Klaus Lang, Georg Friedrich Haas, Fredrik Rasten, Ian Mikyska) and the specifics of instrumental and playing techniques and composing in the six-tone system and with the specifics of the harmonium at the Czech Museum of Music.
The conclusion of the lecture - a practical demonstration of the instrument - will take place directly in the exhibition of the Czech Museum of Music.
