Learning outcomes of the course unit
Educational outcomes
At the end of the semester, the student is equipped with knowledge of the current system of dance education in Czech and other EU countries. He understands current issues of employment in dance field and the nature of independent dance companies. He/she will gain a basic overview of their funding, is able to think critically about the creation of framework curricula in the Czech educational system. He/she will be able to orient himself/herself on the contemporary dance scene, has insight into current grant policy, understands the content of the work of a producer in the preparation of a simple project, the need for a team and cooperation.

Course contents
Learning objectives:
The course focuses on the needs of dance teachers in the areas of organization, administration, economics, argumentation, management, team leadership and institutional management. The course integrates dance pedagogy into the context of cultural policy and the system of arts education, the development of framework and school curricula in dance education. It provides a basic insight into the issues of production in the dance arts. It introduces performing artists and dance educators to the terminology and methods of management and marketing and to the effective planning, management and organization of an artistic project.
Thematic areas:
The topics of each lecture are focused on the basic summary of knowledge of the current context of dance pedagogy:
- Terminology, history and present of artistic production and management.
- the structure of educational dance entities in the Czech Republic compared to abroad and employment positions in the field, the profession of a dancer
- issues related to school frame plans and accreditations of the Ministry of Education
- independent entities and their existence, financing
- grant policies of the Czech Republic and other countries inside and outide EU, International subsidy programmes for dance art
- timetable and time planning of the project
- staffing and teamwork, division of roles
