Rodrigo Prieto has been Martin Scorsese’s cameraman of choice in recent years (The Killers of the Flower Moon, The Irishman, Silence, The Wolf of Wall Street) and has worked on many key works of global cinema such as Broken Embraces (Pedro Almodóvar), Brokeback Mountain (Ang Lee), Biutiful, 21 Grams, Amores perros (Alejandro González Iñárritu), Alexander (Oliver Stone) and 8 Mile (Curtis Hanson). He shot documentary series about Fidel Castro and Vladimir Putin with Oliver Stone. He was nominated for the Oscars three times and won many prestigious awards for his cameraman work.

The meeting will be moderated by two students from the Department of Cinematography and students will get an opportunity to ask questions. In terms of content, the module will be focused on analysing specific scenes from films and the work of a cameraman.

The module will take place in English.

Module capacity is restricted to 40 students.

Assessment methods and criteria

Students are required to write an analytical essay to the extent not exceeding 3 standard pages (3 * 1,800 characters including spaces) or to make a 3-5 minute The Video Essay Podcast. The content of the essay will be the analysis of a selected scene from a film that Rodrigo Prieto worked on as the director of photography.

THE INPUT FOR CLASSIFICATION MUST BE HANDED IN BY 10 JANUARY 2021

The students will be informed about the final results by 21 February 2021.
