Learning outcomes of the course unit

Seminar Graphic Design and Photography 4 continues to deepen the previous experience and skills of this art activity. In today's world, a data carrier and its packaging can represent a surrogate artifact for creative disciplines whose outputs often do not have a physical form. Due to the artistically oriented study program, this medium points to one of the other ways of presenting or distributing a work of art. By appropriately selecting the visual elements used on the cover and the attached booklet, students can learn to present the context of the content that the medium hides.

Mode of study

Teaching in the seminar takes the form of individual consultations, presentation of examples and explanation of work in the software.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Completion of Graphic Design and Photography 3 is required.

Course contents

• Application of visual elements to all parts of the carrier (cover, booklet, medium itself)

• Linking an online presentation with a promotional print

• Finding a suitable visual language for expressing content

• Rhythmization of printed matter, gradation, artistic accent

• Layout settings

• Typesetting texts

• Booklet solution options, types of links and folding

• Storytelling

• Combining work with InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat

Result: Cover and booklet for a data carrier
