Learning outcomes of the course unit
The Mentor Workshop: Directing 1 will cover the core and essential directing skills that will be key for the further projects and exercises they will face as part of their program as well as develop the directors artistic voice on-set. A series of exercises will enable the students to progressively think more and more as visual storytellers.

Course contents
The students will be given practical exercises in which they need to develop a small narrative dramatic situation, plan it and then shoot it under the guidance of the mentors.
Each student will direct their own exercise with the collaboration of every other student, who will take part as DoP’s, actors etc.
Each exercise will last 2 weeks from conception to conclusion and will focus on a crucial element of cinematic storytelling.
Exercise 1: 1 Minute 1 TakeScene.
Exercise 2: Three shots, three acts.
Exercise 3 - Advanced Chase
Exercise 4 - Advanced Table.
Exercise 5 - Reverse-Storybaording existing scene
Exercise 6 - Advanced dialog

Assessment methods and criteria
Participation in the workshop and fulfilling the practical exercises.
Taking part in the exercises in different roles (DoP, Actors etc.).
