The teaching of the course Basics of Choreography for Pedagogy and Choreology focuses primarily on introducing the rules of dance composition. Practically, it deals with the analysis and synthesis of the individual components of movement such as body, space, time, dynamics in dance composition, the creation of movement motifs and their development, structuring and forming shorter choreographic units, dramaturgical construction, working with music and the performer.

The aim of the study is to understand and practically test the compositional laws of dance, the process of creation from the initial idea, through the pedagogical intention, the choice of the appropriate sound component, the creation of movement material, working with the performer, shaping the created material, up to the stage form of smaller scale.

The course includes theoretical analyses of the choreographies viewed and evaluation through discussion, allowing to understand the individual laws and principles of dance composition.

Learning outcomes

Based on both practical and theoretical experience, students gain professional tools for creating smaller and larger choreographic units, which are usually necessary for teaching dance techniques and for presenting the results of their own work.

A recommended component of the course Fundamentals of Choreography for Pedagogy is a visit to a regional or national round of a dance show (organized by the Ministry of Education or NIPOS ARTAMA, or other professional organizations), taking into account the student's specialization.
