The course creates the conditions for learning to move consciously in the present body and mind. On the basis of one's own immediate experience, one becomes aware of the basic principles of dance medicine, i.e. elimination of excess effort and tension, increase in speed, flexibility, stability, communication, etc.
In this course, students gain a basic understanding of the human body and its function and possibilities in movement. It is followed by the subject Kinesiology, taught in the Master's degree, where the student improves his/her knowledge of the human body.
The aim of the study
- is to learn about one's own body and its potential as a tool for communication, so that the body becomes a source of communication
- to understand the basic principles related to the health of the dancer
- to be oriented in the basic anatomical, biomechanical and motor principles related to dance education
- develop theoretical and research skills and apply them to one's own teaching practice, i.e. be able to select adequate conditioning and somatic practices and use them appropriately
- be familiar with the basic literature and current trends in sports medicine
- be able to handle basic work with exercise and medical equipment and be able to incorporate them appropriately into practical teaching

- composition of an appropriate diet (fats, proteins, carbohydrates, proteins, sugars, minerals, etc.)
- principles of drinking and its rationale
- health problems related to eating disorders, allergies and other diseases
- Injuries, accidents in and out of the work environment and recovery/prevention of injuries.
- Impact of mental state and health on dancer's performance and expression
- Core (power house) - body centre (composition, structure, function)
- Examples of practical exercises (simple and effective methods of strengthening, mobilization and relaxation of joints and muscles)
Learning outcomes
The student will demonstrate a practical and theoretical knowledge of the basic principles of dance medicine through an explanation of the terms, principles and their drills, as well as their use in lesson construction.
- The student will be able to elaborate simple preventive exercises practiced in dance training or everyday life.
- can select, explain and apply simple and effective methods of strengthening, mobilising and relaxing joints and muscles using exercise and medical equipment (over ball, thera-band, hedgehog, balance pads)
