Contents
The content of the course of Didactics and Methodology of Modern and Contemporary Dance 2 consists of theoretical introduction and movement exploration of specific topics. There is room for finding ways to grasp the possibilities of movement exploration and how to create simple or more complex movement forms from the knowledge and movement experience thus gained, so that they feed back functional content through their form.
Specific topics for exploration are the movement principles of modern and contemporary dance techniques and their specific movement qualities. Thematic improvisation, movement games, dance weave or various touch techniques are used as forms for movement exploration. Part of the study includes observing the Czech and international dance scene.
The course is closely related to the content of the courses Pedagogical Proseminar and Modern and Contemporary Dance Training.
The aim of the course is to develop the skills to use the possibilities of movement exploration on a specific movement theme to gain physical experience that can then be transferred and applied to movement forms across modern and contemporary dance techniques. In doing so, the course offers preparation and subsequent support for teaching traditional modern and contemporary dance techniques.

Functional posture and conscious perception of the body at rest and in motion
The centre of gravity and its movement in space
Centre and periphery (pattern of opening and closing)
Basic movement patterns: principles: release/push and reach/pull
Movement qualities, muscle tone, effective and ineffective tension in the body

Learning outcomes
The student understands both practically and theoretically the principles of modern dance techniques and is able to use them in pedagogical practice at a basic level. He/she can recognize fundamental mistakes and propose optimal solutions with regard to the target group.

Evaluation methods and criteria
The examination is awarded on the basis of active attendance, oral and practical verification of understanding of the content of the subject, the level of physical mastery of the content of the subject, presentation of own technical exercises, movement or dance games according to the specified age category on one specified topic. The student will also provide examples of music or visual arts that reflect the topic selected and developed by the student.
Other requirements: 80% attendance, activity in class, and creation of a portfolio.
