The course is focused on the ability of creating the visual concept of performance, to understand the specifics of visual part of theatre, that includes all visual components, as creation of space, puppet, mask, costumes, light etc., and to complement the complexity with other parts of theatre creation. The purpose of teaching in set design is to introduce new inspiring solutions and sources. In this way we reinforce the continuity with modern fine arts and its new time-space forms.
Students are preparing concept of design for small puppet performance.
Through this work, they find out different aspects of stage designer work.
As space characteristics, materials and their use, lighting, costumes, masks and puppet design.
Learning outcomes
In the field of knowledge (K), the student:
- analyses and investigates mutual relations between theoretical and practical aspects of studies as well as makes use of that knowledge for own artistic development while creating project of “small theatrical from” P_K2
- analyses the main space characteristics and their specifics
- is able work with light and sound in theatrical space
In the field of skills (S), the student:
- develops own artistic personality; creates, realizes and expresses own artistic concepts P_S1
- improves skills needed for their realization during preparation of performance P_S9
- creates construction of a visual script and understands its purpose and essence P_S2
- uses wide range of skills enabling realization of own artistic concept P_S8
In the field of social competencies (C), the student:
- is able to use imagination, intuition, emotions, creative thinking and work in an effective way in order to solve problems, possesses the skill of flexible thinking, adaptation to new and changing circumstances
- is able to present, advertise own project in a approachable way by using known elements of information technologies P_SC6
- proves creativity by making individual, independent works, by collecting, analysing and interpreting indispensable information, formulates own ideas with the use of critical argumentation; is determined by internal motivation and organization of own work P_SC1
