Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos is a prominent filmmaker and author. He won many respected awards such as the Best Script and the Jury Prize at the Cannes Festival, and three of his films were nominated for the US Academy Awards (Oscar). The master class for FAMU students will be focused on his directing work, inspiration sources and the practical aspects of his career to date.

The module will take place in English as a moderated discussion.

Module capacity is restricted to 40 students.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Students are required to write an analytical essay to the extent not exceeding 3 standard pages (3 * 1,800 characters including spaces) or to make a 3-5 minute The Video Essay Podcast. The content of the essay will be the analysis of one film by Yorgos Lanthimos or a topic related to his work.

THE INPUT FOR CLASSIFICATION MUST BE HANDED IN BY 10 JANUARY 2021

The students will be informed about the final results by 21 February 2021.
