Salt print + Calotype

Historical photographic techniques have recently become very interesting when speaking about alternative photographic techniques. The first successful and permanent print was on silver-chlorid paper (between the years 1840-1850 broadly used positive materials). The print is not developped it is created by „printing-out-paper“. The particles are colloid Ag, coloured in ochre, brown and reddish brown.

Learning outcomes

The „Historical photographic techniques 4“ workshop includes:

1/ creation of the contact from the classic negative 18 x 24 cm on the salt paper and its final adjustment

2/ creation of the paper negative 18 x 24 cm

Evaluation methods and criteria

Student will get the credits after passing the exam. The exam includes:

a/ submitting the chosen technique in the required carrying out

b/ information about process of realization, including detailed description of the work and all anomalies that might have influenced the process and proposal how to deal with this situation, or to use this proposal during the process

c/ passing through oral examination with the overal summarization and possible alternative solutions
