In the beginning of the year we clarify workflow, data archiving and altering, creative post production.

Physics and optics recap, recap of control over the exposure - aperture, shutter speed and ISO, depth of field, size of shots and so on.

In October we set the main project of the year and we assign the minor projects.

We continue with weekly reviews on exhibitions and events connected with Photography.

Students bring photographs as often as possible, the aim of the course is to teach them continuous photography work.

Learning outcomes

Course focuses on creative processes in photography. Students are guided for the duration of one-year course through the area of today photographic arts.

They deepen their knowledge of the field and work on minor projects (on weekly basis) as well as they focus on a main project of the year delivered twice: in January in „work in progress“ stage and in June polished and finished.

Students learn how to take and select pictures.

DSLR camera equipment.

Continuous work during the semester.

Will be given during the semester.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Satisfactory attendance, all absences announced on timely manner.

Continuous work on the tasks.

Fall term assignments

  1. Design of the photographic image
  2. Series of photographs as an individual interpretation of the theme (not mere illustration). Emphasis is put on the ability to come up with an innovative solution to the given assignment. Conceptual work is recommended. A written explanation must be handed in prior to starting with the assignment
