The workshop will consist of three parts:
- In the first part, it will focus on explaining the core principles of sound synthesis and sampling utilizing PureData and Supercollider. A
These softwares approach sound synthesis in significantly different ways, yet they share a common ground. Thus, the participants will learn conceptual use cases for these specific tools and expand their knowledge based on the presented contrast.
- The second part of the workshop will be focused on the principles of sound synthesis and sampling methods, which can be controlled and managed in time to construct fixed composition or live improvised performance act.
- The last part of the workshop will aim at integrating the gained knowledge through a live jam session open to an audience.
This last part is voluntary to participate.
Workshop will be held by former CAS/FAMU students Kryštof Pešek and Jiří Rouš and moderated by Sara Pinheiro.
It will take place in Punctum.
The language of the workshop will be decided according to the participants - if only Czech students, it will be in Czech, if international students it will be in English.
Learning outcomes
- Ability to work with samples and sound synthesis in different software environments.
- Understanding the core control principles of Super Collider and Pure Data.
