Obsah
The goal of the course is to enhance the student’s understanding of theatre/art performances, both in its relation to the audience and to the theatre practitioner, through widening the meaning of terms like analysis and criticism, and strengthening the student’s ability to communicate the process in different ways.
Themes of individual meetings:
- Tendencies in contemporary European theatre, mainly through examples from filmed performances.
- Investigating different tools for presenting and discussing performances.
- The body and the site as vehicles for presenting and scrutinizing theoretical and artistic material.
- Students‘ presentation of performances or theories, based on their own choice.
Výsledky učení
Knowledge achieved:
- The student should show knowledge about, and be able to discuss different aspects of criticality in relation to a specific performance or a specific concept.
- The student should know in what way an expanded understanding of dramaturgy and criticality is influencing contemporary European theatre and performance practices.
Skills achieved:
- To actively produce presentations that are materializing and verbalizing ideas and concepts, in this making them clear, understandable, enjoyable and criticizable.
- To present and discuss dramaturgical and critical concepts and processes in public.

Hodnoticí metody a kritéria
The course is examined through continuous assessment of oral and written assignments, and through active participation in the workshops. In order to pass, the student must participate in at least 80% of the lectures or workshops.
- Attendance: at least 80% (20% of classification).
- Active participation on the lectures and workshops (30% of classification).
- Assignments: 1 written assignment, 8–10 pages (50% of classification).
