Obsah
This class aims to create a safe, creative, and challenging environment so the directing student can learn the first basics of directing in a balance of practice and theory.
Students will go through a series of short-term projects that will allow them to explore, test and refine diverse tools, knowledge and crafts that are essential for film directing.
The same series of projects will enable discussions on essential dramaturgical elements such as three act structure, character, etc.
In-class discussion and debate have a crucial role in the learning process and will be strongly encouraged throughout the semester.
This class will enable directors to approach the script/story development process from a conceptual and critical approach aimed towards developing a script with a specific directorial purpose.
Week 1-8
The class focuses on Projects 1-3 and Encounter exercise.
Week 9-12
Students create and develop the idea and the initial concept for the practical exercise for the summer semester (Triangle).
