Choreographic exercises on topics:

Movement in a space, movement and form, movement and rhythm, movement and dynamics.

Selection of step mateiral in relation to music. Choreographic inspiration in music of various provenience. Logic and naturalness of music, reversible and irreversible movement, logical movement continuation.

Working with notation material. Reading live music scores. Students search for a composition Theme and Variatoin, for the exam be for the Dean's committee in the second semester.

Course work: based on acquired knowledge, students create an abstract choreography respecting the relationship of movement to space, form, rhythm and dynamics. The professor gives the music sample. Students receive credit for the etude performed personally by the student.

Learning outcomes

The course is to provide basic experience with procedures related to the choreographic process from the selection of subject matter and music basis to the final creation of a short choreographic composition. The course is in the character of practical classes. In the first semester the focus is on creative issues with movement (developing movement in a space, form modifications). The work takes place through movement sketches and short choreographic wholes.
