Learning objectives:
This course focuses on how to create a lesson: Students will learn the most effective way to create a lesson. First, they will review the dance repertoire of the year for which they are creating the lesson. They will select from the dances the dance links and variations they will use to work on the freestyle, adapting them if necessary for the needs of the group. They then select individual steps from the step links that need to be taught separately to the pupils and then create new variations to them.
The aim of the studies is to further develop methodical thinking and the ability to analyse movement. The ability to create other possible variations on movement themes written in the collections. To create different lessons for different types of dance schools and dance studios.
Thematic areas:
Students create model lessons and adapt them for different types of dance schools. First, lessons of a simpler type are created and then lessons of a more complex and technically demanding type are created. Working with literature and modifying the dance material recorded here.
- Students search for unusual and not very often used dances from many different folklore areas.
- Students learn to maintain the basic structure of the dances when making adaptations, so that they can work with the material in two ways to make the dances simpler but also more difficult.
- Creating a model lesson for advanced students.
- Preparation of variations to dances with fixed and non-fixed musical accompaniment - Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia.
- Simplification of variations and further modification of prepared variations for different types of dance studios and dance conservatories.
Learning outcomes
Student after completing the course
- knows how to combine dance steps and their variants into larger units
- understands well the diversity of ethnographic regions, prepares technical exercises for a region of Bohemia
- can independently modify the dances, extend the variants with more complicated movement register
- chooses the correct teaching procedure and sequence of assignments
- has an overview of teaching methods to guide pupils to the movement distinction of ethnographic areas
- is able to structure a dance lesson correctly, mastering the structured assignment of links and dances
- can analyse his/her own work and that of other students, which he/she is able to evaluate professionally, point out shortcomings, see mistakes and highlight the pros
- on the basis of the acquired complex knowledge is able to build a lesson for different age groups, is able to attract different age groups and performance categories
- is able to write his/her own text evaluating the work of a selected folk ensemble
