In the first semester the instruction focuses on elements and combination exercises a la barre and au millieu. Instruction procedes from the basic form of individual exercises to their more complicated forms. As well from simple combinations to more the complicated. In this instruction the aim is to broaden the awareness of the student, unify the understanding of classic dance and equip the future choreographer with the most detailed knowledge of the movment canon of classic dance so they will be able to create and innovate new classic dance technique models.

An emphasis is on the physical experience of the students with classic dance technique and as well an understanding of the manner of how to create dance movement in it physical mechanics.

Learning outcomes

The course aim is to provide dance research students experience in classcal dance technique at an advanced level; genuine movement experience is a requirement for dance theory review.

Dance experience and knowledge of classical dance technique at the intermediate are required.
