Instruction in basic steps: Students learn simple instruction of basic steps such as; stroll, run, polka steps, hops and double-hops, Mazurka, Sousedska. They learn individual instruction procedures for those steps, their basic movement structure by which they come to the final step form.

Barre exercises: Arm work, springs, semi-squats, squats, smal slides cutting steps, taps, base steps.

Movement in a space: walks (swinging, smooth, shaking) with stamps and claps, hops and double hops with stamps and claps, slide steps, Mazurka (in three steps, in two steps) and rhythmic preparation for triple steps, polka steps (smooth, jump, shake), two-reel, Sousedska (slapping, smooth, slide), two-step, two-half steps. Steps are covered in a methodical order: straight, in turns, in spins, forward, back, to the side, first individually, then in pairs, then in groups.

Dance repertoire: Primarily children's games and dances are covered. Students are familiarized with the reading and reconstruction of dances from notation in collections.Older collections have their own distinctive manner of dance description. Collectors described dances without a knowledge of dance terminology and many must records must be carefully deciphered which not always easy.

Dances: Čížeček, Helička, Pletený, Školácká, Račí minet, Zahradník, Polonéz český, Koštětový.

Learning outcomes

The course aim is to prepare future instructors in methods and practices for the professional instruction of this course.

Active participation in Folkdance technique. No other knowledge requirements.
