Contents

Through investigating documentation about productions (photography, critiques, memories, correspondence, sketches) students find the methods of the most distinctive Czech set designers of the first half of the 20th century. Systematic work with resource material, creation of their own view of stage methods and investigation of sources of inspiration. Writing of an independent course paper of approx. 20 pages.

Learning outcomes

To introduce students to set-design methods of individual artists. To understand the principles of their creations and with a knoweldge of set-design, work on an independent set-design topic.

Prerequisites and other requirements

DEA1 and DEA 2 lectures.

Literature

Selected Chapters - Diderot, Aronson, Brandesky, Gombrich, Francastel.

Evaluation methods and criteria

75% class attendance, independent creation of the course paper and its presentation (approx. 20 pages of text).
