Contents
Contemporary work in the performing arts in the form of profiles and examples of the work of contemporary theatre, dance, visual puppetry, musical theatre and performance. The main focus is on creators in the field of post-dramatic and post-spectacular theatre, mainly from the Occidental performing circle - Europe and the USA (John Cage, Tadeusz Kantor, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Mauricio Kagel, Heiner Goebbels, Rimini Protokoll, Christoph Schlingensief, Christoph Marthaler, Forced Entertainment, Gob Squad, Piotru Urbanski, Survival Research Laboratories). The seminar focuses on annotated excerpts from the works.
Learning outcomes
To introduce students to the most diverse trends in contemporary world theatre. Emphasis is placed primarily on the diversity of contemporary theatre and the dissolution of borders between individual artistic forms. Particular attention is devoted to post-dramatic or non-interpretive theatre forms.

- Ability to analyse and reflect in writing.
- At least passive knowledge of the English language.

Evaluation methods and criteria
A condition for acquiring credit in the winter semester is 80% class participation. A condition for sitting the exam in the Summer semester is also a condition for successful completion of the course is class participation, completion of the course in the form of a 5 page essay reviewing the instruction content over the entire year.
Note
This course may be attended by a limited number of Production Dept. and Theory and Critique Dept. students.
