Learning the different functions of music in a theatre performance, as well as skills of formulating a task for the composer based on the previously prepared stage script. The course is aimed at teaching about the basic directions, styles and forms of music. The objective is to trace both the history of music, as well as to learn the basics of musicology, on the basis of music pieces played in class. Listening to the music of selected composers from over the centuries will help broaden the student’s knowledge about the given era, composer, and form of music.
Objective: To familiarize a future director with the language of music, specific vocabulary concerning forms and styles in music, and mainly the analysis of the function of music in the theatrical performance on the basis of existing performances or director scripts prepared by the students.
