Contents
Directing student writes and directs a short film of up to 15 minutes. The student is lead in their tutorial to develop short fiction, a realistic linear drama based on the 3-act structure, developed by the student and their schoolmates, or taken from literature. A non-narrative approach, flashbacks, flash-forwards, and dream sequences are not allowed. The artistic initiative comes from the Directing student who is required to actively search for a collaborating Cinematography student.
Learning outcomes
With this exercise students will:
- Learn how to work with the dramatic structure and how to transform the script into a short film using efficient film language and appropriate performance of actors.
- Learn how to provide and receive feedback on the work of their peers and their own work.
Prerequisites and other requirements
Directing student must present the project at pitching and submit the director's treatment 3 days before the pitching (the director's treatment must include the essential members of the crew - DoP and camera crew, production manager, set designer, sound designer

Evaluation methods and criteria
The subject is credited upon the submission of the final version of the exercise (project).
(The exercise is then evaluated and graded within Final Commission 2).
Note
- Directing student is responsible for finding the essential crew members.
- Technical parameters: The camera, light and grip list must be created according to the script and location possibilities and must be approved by cinematography mentor of CINKK student and FAMU International production office. Digital technology is not subject to a change.
