Obsah
The course will equip students with practical knowledge of the arts and theatre production environment, with an emphasis on puppetry. During the blocks of seminars and by completing several assignements, students will be introduced to international financing, fundraising, and support opportunities for independent artistic work.
Seminar will guide students through the process of producing and managing a puppet theatre performance, from project planning to execution and promotion and foster professional networking skills, festival strategies, and international career planning.
Teaching programme:
Block 1: Strategic Planning and Producing (2 days)
Introduction to Cultural and Project Management (Project lifecycle: from idea to realization, Budgeting, scheduling, rights & contracts)
Team Building and Leadership in Creative Projects (Roles: director, producer, designer, technician, etc., Collaboration and delegation in international settings)
Visual and Technical Production (Puppetry-specific challenges in set, costume, and puppet making, Working with designers and technicians.
Planning Rehearsals and Managing Creative Time (Timeline creation, Balancing creative and managerial roles)
Block 2: Funding, Promotion and International Networks (2 days)
Financing Independent Projects (Grants (local, national, EU, international), Private funding: sponsorships, crowdfunding, Public institutions, partnerships)
Presenting Work Internationally (Festival strategy (mapping puppet festivals), Pitching your work: artist statements, videos, press kits.)
Residencies and Networking (International opportunities (residencies, mobility schemes),
Building sustainable networks)
Marketing and Communication (Building audience engagement, Social media, press, communication strategies

Homework Assignment (60%):
A short project dossier for their final performance including:
- Budget plan (template provided)
- Schedule of production & rehearsals
- Written concept/pitch (max 2 pages)
- Target presentation opportunity (e.g., festival or residency) with motivation
Participation in Seminar Blocks (40%):
Active involvement in discussions, teamwork exercises, and case studies.
