Obsah

The aim of the course conducted mainly in the form of discussion is to familiarize a future puppeteers with the language of music, specific vocabulary concerning forms and styles in music, and mainly the analysis of the function of music in the theatrical performance on the basis of existing performances or director scripts prepared by the students.

The course ”Collaboration with composer” base mainly on:

analysis of the musical layer of chosen performances available on DVD or VHS sources

reflection concerning music after watching “live” performance

reading and commenting publications concerning “theatrical music” (though the sources in that field are limited)

work on a concrete director script prepared by the student

Výsledky učení

In the field of knowledge (K), the student:

• is able to name and define different functions of music in a theatrical performance and use basic terms applied in music
• understands basic knowledge concerning financial, marketing and legal aspects of the profession of an actor-puppeteer, especially laws concerning copyright

In the field of skills (S), the student:

• creates and realizes own artistic concepts concerning realizations of sound layer of theatrical performance
• is able to make individual decisions concerning realizations of music in theatre
• is able to make contact with a composer

In the field of social competences (SC), the student:

• possesses the skill of self-evaluation
• is able to give constructive criticism concerning others’ actions
• possesses the skill of effective communication with a composer in different theatrical ventures as well as the skill of presenting the tasks for the composer in an intelligible way

Hodnoticí metody a kritéria

Credits are awarded based on discussions testing knowledge of the musical works presented,

attendance, participation in class discussions and engagement during class.

3 excused absences per semester are tolerated.
