Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The study aim is to acquire knoweldge and an overview of current cultural policy in the Czech Republic and the EU, and individual tools and measures of cultural policy considering international, national and local levels.

Mode of study:

Classroom instruction, moderated discussion and discussion; text analyses.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Interest in working in state or public management in culture or cultural policy events.

Recommended optional programme components:

Monitoring performances or participation in cultural committee talks, or representation at the local level - best the location of one's residence or origin.

Course contents:

Declaration of human rights

Convention on the protection and support of cultural diversity

Czech Republic cultural policy

Arts support

EU cultural policy

Use of the potential of the cultural and creative branch

Cultural policy instruments

Structure of state budgets, respectively, expenditure for culture

Subsidy policy

Case studies of cultural policies in selected cities in the Czech Republic

EU cultural and structural policy.
