1. A better understanding of the particulars of puppet theatre and its diversity and flexibility.
2. A glimpse into the development of puppet theatre in comparison to various arts fields, movements and contemporary developmental tendencies.
3. Good bearing of the student in existing puppet dramas and drama devoted to puppets. Contemporary production potential of those plays.
4. Efforts to broaden student interest in the potential of puppet theatre in figurative and non-figurative theatre.
5. Inspiration for studying acting issues.

Lectures, essay and text analyses, creative exercises, classes.

General knowledge of Czech and world drama, analysis and review skills, sense for drama, creativity, sense of movement in a space.
- Course contents:

1. A historical excursion to types of puppet theatres of the past, epic narrative theatre, split interpretation, illusion and reproduction theatre.
2. Technological potential and particulars of individual types of puppets.
3. The puppet as an object of ritual and aesthetics.
4. Man among objets.
5. Relation of the actor to the object.
6. The Romance, symbolism and puppet theatre.
7. Theatre avant garde and puppet theatre.
8. Bauhaus and puppet theatre.
9. Puppet drama and plays dedicated to puppets.
10. The grotesque and puppet theatre.
11. The contemporary development trends in puppet theatre.
