Obsah kurzu

A practical introduction to dramaturgy of a feature film - the primary elements, structure, and rules of the structure of a film, including the structural-dramaturgical specifics of individual film genres, taking into account the model definition of a story, as practised in American cinematography, and the seeming dramaturgical „open-endedness“ of auteur and independent film.

Topics:

•reality and film (references, plausibility, credibility etc.) and principles of expression in film

•story and its necessary elements, film – pyramid, differences between a story and a way of storytelling; interpretation – meaning, reference, purpose, motif (and its relation to topic)

•storyteller, author and viewer; their relationship and position in storytelling; types of storyreller depending on the point of view; storyteller's reliability

•story – synchronic and diachronic perception of story, story and theme

•narrative structures and their comparison, structure of tragedy according to Aristotle; genre and its functions

•dramatic situation of drama and its three parts

•prologue, epilogue, exposition, „hook“, difference between prologue and exposition

•three-act structure, difference between „plot point one“, „plot point two“ and dramatic situation of drama

•relation between plot and character; elements of character; ostension
