Increasing piano skill

Mode of study

Individual instruction linked to verifying students' individual study. The instructor evaluates the study, gives exams and credit.

Course contents

Piano practical is part of the study in the 8th semester of the Conducting and Composition studies.

Requirements are placed on the students in the selection of the literature primarily in playing piano excerpts, scores and at finally playing from the page and collaborating with HAMU Opera studies.

Significant technical requirements are placed on the student with consideration of their ability to present their own work, playing from the page and score reading.

Recommended or required reading

Literature selection according to the technical maturity of the students.

Conducting:

A cross section of the greatest amount of symphonic and opera literature. Cooperation with the Opera study at the Music Faculty of AMU.

J. S. Bach: Francouzské suity, Temperovaný klavír I. a II. díl

J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven: Sonáty - výběr

The Romance and 20th.century století focused selection of symphonic and opera literature. (ex: piano excerpts of operas by V. Blodek , B. Smetana, A. Dvořák, G. Verdi, G. Puccini, R. Wagner, L. Janáček and others.

Composition study:

Instruction focused on management of score playing.

Assessment methods and criteria

Playing from the page, song score, piano excerpts and accompaniment reading - all focused on the main study.

Note

An elective course intended only for the Composition, Conducting, Opera Direction and Voice Depts.
