Learning outcomes of the course unit

  1. To acquaint students with the basic ways of cooperation of music and text
  2. To acquaint students with the basic characteristics of vocal and vocal instrumental genres
  3. To make the students acquainted with the possibilities of combining and overlaps of the different types and genres of vocal and vocal instrumental music

Course contents

Course contents Music and word 3 includes introduction to the main characteristics of vocal and vocal instrumental genres and their analytical assessment.

  1. Introduction to the Problem:

speech spoken, spoken, thought (relationship of words and music), individual genres and genres and relations between them

  1. forms of spiritual and secular
  2. song, aria, choir
  3. cantata and oratorium
  4. Opera and opera libretto
  5. operetta, musical
  6. stage music to drama
  7. melodrama
  8. Mixed and marginal forms with text
  9. vocal symphony
  10. Symphonic poem
  11. program ouverture
  12. song without words, characteristic composition
  13. Summary, discussion, types for further continuous self-education
