Learning outcomes of the course unit
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the situation in Czech theatre and the conditions, principles and tools used in the implementation of theatre activity, whether single performance or in a theatre organizaion. The particulars, primarily in the application in individual or smaller creative teams.
The course content is an introduction to the basics of managing a theatre project - from the creation, existence and close of basic theatre project forms, being single-perforance stage projets, independent theatre ensembles and smaller festivals and other theare events.
Mode of study
Classes, two class-hours per week.

Course contents
- Introduction to issue
- Project types, their particulars and creation,
- creative, financial and production viewpoints,
- basic questions: why, for whom, with whom.
- Project budget - budget expense side I
- Structure of expenses, logical divisions,
- accounting of individual items - deductions, mutual links,
- practical examples.
- Project budget - budget expense side II
- Creating a model example (fictional project or real project),
- estimates of individual budget items,
- reverse control and finalization of the expense side of the budget.
- Project budget - earnings
- Where to find sources,
- construction of the earnings part of the budget,
- how to subsidise missing sources, alternatives,
- budget finalization - judgement of practical execution,
- pratical project implementation - monitoring the budget, accounting.
- Grant issues - practical exercise
- Where to ask,
- characteristics and division of grants and donations into groups,
- practical preparations of grant applications,
- fundamentals - „tips and tricks“,
- limits to exhausting funds,
- basics in accounting,
- decision principles and processes in Czech Republic Ministry of Culture grants.
- Production of further independent projects (smaller festivals, concerts, open-air events)
- Particulars of individual types,
- administrative burden (location, type of event particulars, etc.),
- production processes,
- practice examples.
- Summary and preparation for final paper
- Summary of issues,
- final paper assignment,
- individual consultation and assignment.
