Learning outcomes of the course unit
- Student demonstrates ability to prepare, implement and document the sound design of a smaller staging, or performance,
- to demonstrate how to propose the sound form of a given stage image/situation/staging and present it to collaborators, or professional designer using standard terminology,
- to know the characteristics of sound, to have a fundamental knowledge of acoustics, to estimate the advantages or disadvantages of a given space for sound activity,
- to have intermediate skills and knowledge in the field of theatre technology (sound),
- to demonstrate the proper and secure manner of installing, operating and managing smaller sound systems,
- master proper terminology.

Course contents
The course aim is to introduce students to the basics of working with a sound designer in a professional theatre. During the course, students are introduced to basic dramaturgical and technological principles of creating the sound design for a staging / installation / performance, practicing with all the technology and devices at the school. Instruction is through seven 4 hour lectures, parts of which are at the KALD studio, the DAMU recording studio and the specialized classroom (R304).

Assessment methods and criteria
Credit is awarded based on class participation and creation of the final multi-media compostion. Minimum attendance 70%.
