Learning outcomes of the course unit

To acquaint students with the practical aspects and requirements of scriptwriting practice in the field of audio-visual work in the Czech Republic.

Course contents

Our goal is to acquaint students with long-term television dramaturgy plas which provide potential for employment and the arrangement of one's projects into the television program scheme. In the area of film, they will, in class, discuss producer potential and manners of student, future professionals, producer film projects. Finally, there is an introduction to the advertising market in the Czech Republic and potential applications within it.

The plan is to invite, to classes, producers and script-editors so the students may, personally, become acquainted with those with whom they may professionally collaborate.

Part of the classes will bring to students' attention scriptwriting grants, tenders and other forms of support for their work as well as bi-lateral agreements and the work of FAMU with Czech television. Emphasis will be place of student work on film and television projects.

Formal preparations include a detailed introduction to project presentation processes for future professional scriptwriters. As well, students will be guided in monitoring the Czech Republic Ministry of Culture Foundation for the Support and Development of Cinematography announcements and events in the professional field Association of Scriptwriters and Directors)

Assessment methods and criteria

The main grading criterium is the ability of the student to apply their knowledge attained during scriptwriting and script editing studies and in the practical implementation of their pieces.
