Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student has a comprehensive knowledge of jazz music repertoire and demonstrates a high level of proficiency in creating and delivering seamless musical experiences and interpretations.

Possesses a cultivated and experienced knowledge of improvisational practices and processes and has the ability to apply them freely in a variety of contexts. Has the ability to create, realise and express their own artistic concepts and can ensure that any areas of weakness in relation to the artistic practice of jazz music are overcome. Understands the field in depth in relation to relevant career paths and opportunities and identifies and formulates strategies for developing collaborative work on this basis.

Course contents

Learning objectives:

The Master's Project course serves as preparation for the student's final graduate project. The project is a concert, supplemented by a recording on CD or other media, if necessary. The preparation of the project includes all organizational details such as the choice and reservation of the concert venue, its promotion, etc.

The course is taught in the form of continuous individual consultations, the student presents partial progress in the preparation of the project in class. At the end of the semester, the student demonstrates the status of the project preparation in the form of a concert.

Thematic areas:

1. CREATIVE WORK ON THE DEFINED PROJECT - studying sources of inspiration for own work, searching for connections between existing music, based on similar premises, and own work. Creating own compositions or arrangements of compositions taken from other composers, all within the guidelines defined in the previous semester.
2. PREPARATION OF THE SEMESTER CONCERT - choosing the appropriate form of presentation of the partial results of the project. This presentation will not yet take the form of a final concert, but should clearly define the chosen direction.
