Learning outcomes of the course unit
Students are able to independently identify compositional procedures in specific compositions and select appropriate analytical methods. They approach analysis in a creative manner, able to discern the composer's intentions and the interpretative demands of specific compositions.

Course contents
Learning objectives:
To familiarise students with compositions by major composers which use modern compositional systems typical of the second half of the 20th century.
Thematic areas:
- EDO vs. JI tuning
- sonic music
- spectrum of sound as a starting point
- related notation
- analyses of selected parts of the pieces discussed.
- comparison of students' analyses and discussion
- presentation of final analyses and discussion.

Assessment methods and criteria
Credit examination is awarded on the basis of continuous active participation in class (60 %) and an independently developed comprehensive analysis of the composition corresponding to the material discussed (40 %). The student prepares a 30-minute presentation: a score, a recording and an analytical diagram to be presented for discussion.
