Learning objectives:
The aim of the course is to acquire a theoretical knowledge of the recording process and an awareness of the various skills of the members of the recording team, with a focus on active involvement in the field of recording direction. The ability to rehearse the assigned repertoire for the needs of recording, to communicate with performers, the ability to lead recording sessions and to participate in post-production.
Course Content Summary:
Participation through listening during the instruction of the Sound Design programme. Students will gain an awareness of the demands placed on the music and sound engineering team throughout the recording process. Composition students will be given preference for placement on recording teams when recording Department of Composition concerts in collaboration with students of the Department of Sound Design. Active participation is expected in the form of a listening session with the possibility of discussion leading to the realisation of one's own project.
Thematic areas:
Various types of productions are regularly included - mostly solo performances or chamber music, but also orchestral projects. Both studio recording and live recording are undertaken.
The course can be enrolled in repeatedly.
Learning outcomes
The student is able to practically apply the knowledge of the recording process that he/she has acquired, and to particularly understand the profession of recording direction through recording music. The theoretical knowledge is practically applied to their own project and can be further developed in other professional practice.
Prerequisites and other requirements
Talent. Knowledge from the previous years of study or a defined measure of practical knowledge and skills in the given study. Simutaneous completion of lectures and classes in Music Directing is necessary.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Credit examination is awarded on the basis of the completion of an assigned task, which constitutes the direction of a musical performance during the recording of a self-produced work, or during the live recording of a concert produced by the Department of Composition. The evaluated performance of recording direction consists of preparing, recording and managing the post-production of the recording within the specified timeframe.
Minimum attendance required: 60 %.
