Learning outcomes of the course unit
- Introduction to basic theatre theory.
- To introduce issues of domestic and foreign theatre - theory terminology, primarily the issues of terminology, focues on the creation of a theatre piece.
- To introduce the principles of the function of a theatre piece and its components.
Mode of study
Concept presentation, discussion, reading and analysis of theory texts, recording analyses.

Course contents
The Theatre Theoy course is devoted to an analysis of the particulars of the media aspect of theatre which the students are familiarized with as well as the fundamentals of critical readings of pivotal texts, primarily of the Czech post-Zich structural-semiotic school and a basis of analysis of exceptional contemporary Czech stagings. As well, the class offers students an incorporation of this knowledge into theatre theory abroad. The conclusion is to serve students as a greater understanding of Czech theatre theory terms (acting figures and dramatic persons, important education and technical presentation, theatre figures, intention and confusion, interpretation, components of theatre arts, directing and dramaturgy, artefact and aesthetic object and piece, originality, medial structure of a theatre act, rehearsal, etc.). Also, the course is to clarify the particulars of Czech thought on theatre.

Assessment methods and criteria
Students are expected to regularly prepare for classes, which means readings of selected texts.
Student grading wiil originate in both class participation and the final oral exam which cofirms student skill in analysing covered topics. Grades and credit are awarded based on a minimum of 75% attendance.
