Learning outcomes of the course unit
Establishing thesis topic, finalizing the methodology, continued search for resources (films and literature), obtaining a thesis adviser.
Students present their diploma thesis topic toward the middle of semester (mid October) for approval by a committee and then get an advisor assigned.
Mode of study
Consultation class. Students expected to continually report on progress. Some in-class exercises related to academic form. Presentation made to visiting committee for thesis topic approval. Part of the written thesis, the introduction, must be submitted to the course instructor by the middle of fall semester in order to pass the course.
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the first two years of master's study.

Course contents
In this class, we continue progress developing the thesis topic, and structuring its contents. By the middle of the semester, students should have written the introductory chapter (with literature review) and have a preliminary table of contents.

Individual, according to thesis topic.
Assessment methods and criteria
Pass grade is given to student upon work submitted.
Student should have a minimum of 50% attendance at the seminars in order to receive credit for the course. It is necessary to have a completed and detailed written outline for the thesis, plus extensive bibliography by the time of pitching the thesis topic to the committee approving the topic. By the end of Thesis Mentorship 1 (and so mid- semester, since the class is being combined with Thesis Mentorship 2) students should have completed the introduction.
