The teaching of the course Basics of Choreography for Pedagogy and Choreology focuses primarily on introducing the rules of dance composition. Practically, it deals with the analysis and synthesis of the individual components of movement such as body, space, time, dynamics in dance composition, the creation of movement motifs and their development, structuring and forming shorter choreographic units, dramaturgical construction, working with music and the performer.
The aim of the study is to understand and practically test the compositional laws of dance, the process of creation from the initial idea, through the pedagogical intention, the choice of the appropriate sound component, the creation of movement material, working with the performer, shaping the created material, up to the stage form of smaller scale.
The course includes theoretical analyses of the choreographies viewed and evaluation through discussion, allowing to understand the individual laws and principles of dance composition.

- music - musical motive and movement motive, relationship to music rhythmic - dynamic - emotional,
- ways of working with music - the relationship between musical components and movement
- appropriateness of choice of music in relation to theme, age and occasion
- basic compositional relationships - contrast and unity, peak dynamic - emotional - content,
- form - equivalent of movement and musical form, dramatic construction, collage
- themes and their sources of inspiration in relation to age
- realisation of choreography on stage - basics of working with light and sound, organisation of performances
The recommended component of the course Fundamentals of Choreography for Pedagogy is a visit to a regional or national round of a dance show (organized by the Ministry of Education and Science or NIPOS ARTAMA, or other professional organizations), taking into account the student's specialization.
Learning outcomes
On the basis of practical and theoretical experience, students acquire professional tools for the creation of smaller and larger choreographic units, which are usually necessary both for teaching dance techniques and for presenting the results of their own work.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Credit in the summer semester is awarded on the basis of attendance (80%), activity in class, the creation of a small-scale choreography (up to 5 min) on a given topic based on the topics discussed, which is the completion of the choreographic study created in the winter semester. The credit will include an oral reflection on the regional or national show seen, taking into account the student's specialisation.
