Contents
The content of Dance Education for Children 2 focuses mainly on the pedagogical intention and the practical introduction to the tools needed to fulfil this intention. The teaching emphasizes the deepening of creative pedagogical thinking, independent thinking and the ability to reflect. Practical experience is gained in how to build a proper dance lesson for children and what adequate topics to bring to the lessons.
A recommended component of the course is attendance at a creative dance performance.
The goal of the course is to deepen independent creative pedagogical thinking. The student develops practical skills in working with professional material, seeking inspiration, and mining his/her own experience to formulate, prepare, and implement a simple pedagogical plan and creative process. Emphasis is placed on active participation in the teaching process through the selection of teaching methods and forms of teaching, which are a prerequisite for the development of natural movement with respect for the age and personality specifics of children.
A compulsory component of the Dance Education for Children course is attendance at a regional or national round of dance shows organised by the Ministry of Education and Science or NIPOS ARTAMA, or other professional organisations, taking into account the student's specialisation.
Thematic areas:
Working with a group of children and the principle of play.
Correctly functioning movement.
Finding and discovering one's own physical and psychological possibilities.
Creating joint activities.
Improvisation and the specifics of the creative process at a given age.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student formulates a pedagogical intention, i.e. what can be brought up and made present in children through the chosen topic. The student uses tools to fulfil the goal, especially touch, breath, movement, imagery, a prop, a concrete aid. They incorporate play, technical exercises or guided improvisation into his work. They can independently evaluate the acquired skills and knowledge in a seminar paper.
