Dance improvisation is used to experience and master the authentic experience of dance. The course develops the ability to work creatively with movement and a deeper understanding of the connections between movement elements.
The goal of the course is to
- Theoretical and practical introduction to and understanding of improvisational principles and techniques.
- A practical understanding of the moment of dance without preparation, spontaneity and experiencing dance in the present moment.
- independent thinking also through theoretical analysis and evaluation through discussion, allowing to grasp and process the topic from different perspectives, experiences and possibilities.
Thematic areas:
- Approaches to improvisation - introduction to the approach of Laban, Forsyth, basics of Contact Improvisation, working with objects, working with sound and voice.
- Use and application of improvisation - composed improvisation, instant (instant) composition, use of improvisation as a means of creation, use of improvisation in the classroom.
- Introduction to the historical development of improvisation and changes in the approach to improvisation.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student is able to think independently about movement principles and dance improvisation, is capable of theoretical analysis and evaluation in the form of discussion, is able to grasp and process the topic from different perspectives, experiences and possibilities of dance art.
