Other specifics of dancing with a partner aimed at ethnographic areas - differentiation of appropriate use of lifts for individual regions of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia. Teaching small lifts as well as methodical series for high and more complex types of lifts.

Continued work on pair and group partnership in dance with extension to semi-professional and professional ensembles. Variations and ethnographic peculiarities for use in staging and possible enrichment for the professional folk dance sphere.

Thematic areas:

  1. Moravian folk dances, their regional variants and ways of performance, involvement in the dance.
  2. Teaching of assistance and safe rescue of dancers in teaching high lifts.
  3. Stylization of folk dance lifts for ensemble and professional dancer work.
  4. Safety and health of dancers when teaching lifts.
  5. Lifts of Czech folk dances, connection with dance in one whole.
  6. Teaching a methodical range from low simple lifts to high lifts with involvement in dance.
  7. Developing the learned material into the sphere of professional dance - companies, theatres, professional schools.

Learning outcomes

The course prepares students to use the acquired knowledge in dance practice.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Preparation and performance of a short dance variation using partner work in folk dance.

Other requirements: 80% attendance, activity in class.

Retrieval of various types of lifts and partner work from YouTube footage of folk dance troupe performances.

Creating a variation taking into account the specifics of the chosen area, creating a short variation for the stage treatment of the dance. using partner work, basic and special lifts.
