The starting point for teaching is the comprehensive and proven A. J. Vaganova system, which systematically develops the teaching of the elements of classical dance from the simplest form up to the mastery of the Classical Ballet technique. The system enables the acquisition of all knowledge about the order and combinations of each element according to the methodical rules.
In addition, the emphasis is on finding new ways and possibilities in the teaching of Classical Ballet Technique, as well as knowledge of the functioning of the body, building on the knowledge and knowledge from the subject of Dance Medicine.
The curriculum envisages the teaching of pedagogical principles of development of desired physical dispositions by a precisely dosed regimen of load, repetition, maximum mental concentration and understanding of the discussed substance.
- Detailed analysis of the elements of classical dance technique of the 2nd and 3rd year according to the curriculum of the eight-year dance conservatory
- development of methodical thinking
- understanding and comprehension of the principles of classical dance technique
- the ability to logically arrange and combine elements of a given stage of training
- to create and present appropriate combinations
- mastering all this on the basis of orientation in musical accompaniment, including communication with the accompanist
- analysis of pedagogical presentation and mutual feedback from both teacher and students
A system of theoretical analysis and practical tasks teaches and enables students to learn, fix and develop pedagogical approaches in accordance with the ability to create an appropriate creative and communicative atmosphere.
The emphasis is on an individual approach to each student.

Analysis of new elements à la barre (indicative list):
- large and small poses (croisée, effacée, écartée devant a derriére)
- arabesque (1st-4th), 1st-3rd arabesque with toe to floor on extended standing leg and in demi-plié
- battement tendus, battements jetés in all small and large poses and balancoire
- demi- rond de jambe at 45° en dehors and en dedans, on the whole foot and on the half-foot
- rond de jambe on 45° en dehors and en dedans on the whole foot and half-foot
- battements fondus in small poses, in combination with plié, relevé and demi-rond
- battement soutenu
- battement frappé in all directions on the half-foot, battement double frappé in all directions and on the half-foot
- petits battements sur le cou-de-pied on the half-bow
- flic-flac forward and backward on the whole foot and with a pick-up on the half-pad
- pas tombé in place and out of place
- pas coupé on the whole foot and on the half-cap
- rond de jambe en l´air en dehors a en dedans on the half-cap, temps relevé to 45° en dehors a en dedans
- battements relevés lent a battements développés at 90°, demi- rond de jambe a grand rond de jambe at 90°
- grands battements jetés in big poses and with piqué
- relevés in IV. position
- turns: détourné towards and away from the bar, soutenu en tournant dehors a en dedans, fouetté en dehors a en dedans, half turns on one leg
- preparation and tours from II, V and IV positions
Learning outcomes
Knowledge of the basic position of the body, methodology and methodological procedures in teaching classical dance technique at the level of the basic stage of the stage of teaching according to the standard curriculum in the system of teaching and studying in dance conservatories (Year 1 – Year 3) but also in other types of institutions (e.g. ZUŠ, private schools, hobby studios, courses). Methodological analysis, assignments, rehearsal and correction of errors of individual elements, creation of simple enchaînements.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Credit is awarded on the basis of the examination of knowledge, dexterity and skills in entering the established links in the structure of classical dance training, defense of the seminar work (scope of about 5 standard pages).
Other requirements: 80% attendance, activity in class, observing at the dance conservatory and ballet studio including written reflection.
