Contents
The content of the course of Didactics and Methodology of Modern and Contemporary Dance 6 consists of two complementary parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is aimed at systematically expanding the professional knowledge in the field of methodology of contemporary dance and movement systems, by analysing their basic movement principles and didactic procedures. The course also includes practical exercises, serving to verify the theoretical information and consolidate pedagogical skills in the framework of self-directed teaching by a particular student under the supervision of a teacher. The teaching emphasizes the way of construction of practical lessons of different types, the ability to logically arrange the individual dance elements and to connect them in a meaningful way in dance links designed for different levels of performers.
The course is closely linked to the Modern and Contemporary Dance Pedagogical Seminar, Modern and Contemporary Dance Training.
The aim of the course is to develop methodological thinking, promote and consolidate pedagogical skills, self-creativity, movement research and analysis.

Basic principles of movement in contemporary dance
Functions of breath
Basic principles of floor work, its use in training practice and choreographies of contemporary dance.
Shoulder and upper limb braiding. Basic movement principles of up side down.
Footwork, walking, running and jumping.
Major dance institutions and organizations in the Czech Republic and Europe, dance festivals.
Learning outcomes
The student will gain a basic overview of all the fundamental topics and principles of contemporary dance, and practical skills related to the systematic and logical construction of a lesson. The student will be able to work with imagination. The student seeks and gathers information from recommended literature, and gathers their own sources of inspiration for the field of dance-movement and music. They record everything in his/her portfolio. The student knows and already uses effectively the basic terminology of the field.

Evaluation methods and criteria
The examination will demonstrate the student's practical skill and theoretical knowledge of the subject areas (explanation of Contemporary Dance concepts and principles, their methodical practice and use in the lesson construction). The oral and practical test of understanding of the subject content includes a discussion of a practically demonstrated topic or movement principle in the form of a game, exercise and dance link. Evaluation of teaching methods from two observations is also part of the assessment.
Additional requirements: attendance 80%, activity in class, portfolio development.
