Learning objective:

Folk dance training in its top form for advanced dancers develops the fitness and stamina of the audience.

The aim of the study is to prepare students technically for the professional use of folk dances with maximum emphasis on awareness of the differences between the different folklore areas.

The training is aimed at the maximum deepening of the knowledge of dance steps and their variations: students are introduced to other dance steps and their regional performances. Technically, they try to approximate the character of the step of a given area as much as possible.

Thematic areas:

During the last semester, students will go through different types of training for folk dance.

1 - combined training with rhythmic exercises, combination of steps, dance steps of different dance areas, partner work of folk dance.

2 - thematic training dedicated to one folk region of Bohemia, Moravia or Silesia.

3 - technical training dedicated to targeted partner work.

4 - training dedicated to working with a dance motif.

5 - training focused on the top performance of dance steps and variations of Czech dances.

6 - training focused on the top performance of dance steps and variations of Moravian dances.

Learning outcomes

The student knows the information about ethnographic regions, their processing and use in teaching folk dances, in preparing materials for teaching folk dance. The student is able to perform the dances and their variants in practice. He can professionally describe technical exercises, explain the nature of individual dances. The course completes the material covered, the student is able to create different types of training.
