Getting to know individual regions and ethnographic areas of our country. Culture of the selected region, dance specifics, customs, costumes, ceremonialism, which is an integral part of the study of folk dance.

Lachia is another distinctive region in Eastern Moravia. Today's perception of the region of Lašsko as an equal counterpart to Wallachia, Haná, Horácko and Slovácko has become established due to various circumstances, among which dialectological peculiarities and the distinctive features of regional culture in general have played a significant role. Lachia is not a homogenous region. It is divided into several sub-regions according to its landscape, its costume, certain types of dances and, above all, the style and character of the dance steps.

Thematic areas:

Valašsko-lašské pomezí (Wallachia-Lasz border): Zhnily from Měrkovice, Zvrtek from Gruně, Čeladenský from Kozlovice, Dymak from Kozlovice, Hulan from Měrkovice, Kalamajka from Kozlovice, Kohut from Kunčice, Koval from Kozlovice, Lendr from Kozlovice, Pilky from Kozlovice and from Lhotka pod Ondrejník

Mountain Lašsko: Starodávný from Gruně, Zvrtek from Staré Hamrů, Zvrtek from the borders of Kysuc, Obertas from the borders of Kysuc, Čardaš from Konečná, Babsky from Korně, Čeladenský from Ostravice, Dratenik from Ostravice, Hulan from Grune, Kalamajka from Staré Hamer, Russia polka from Malenovic, Slezsky čardaš from Ostravice, Vojtek from Bílá,

Lowland Lašsko: Starodávný from Sedlišť, Taněc from Krmelín, Zvrtek from Staré vsi nad Ondřejnicí, Cigan (Gypsy) from Krmelín, Dratenik from Krmelín, Dymak from Stará Bělá, Galaty from Janovice, Kožuch podolsky from Hukvald, from Krmelín, Požehnany from Janovice, Ruská (Russia) polka from Janovice, from Krmelín, Šatečkova from Janovice, Zbujan from Morávka,

Štramberk: Ignac Manda and Smutna cerka from Štramberk, Lašský skok (jump): Lašský skok solo, in pairs and foursome, Lašský skok Ondraš.

Unlike the Valašský Odzemek, which is danced to one basic song, there are many songs for the Lašské skok. The dance elements of the jump are characterized by the vigor and „squareness“ of some figures, which contrast interestingly with the light, soft figures..

The students try to create their own sequence of numbers from the possibilities widely offered by the studied material. Lašský skok is an improvisational matter for every dancer, therefore everyone is looking for their own unique style of Lašský skok.

Learning outcomes

The student will gain information about the region, its processing and use in teaching folk dances, in preparing materials for teaching folk dance and creating performances for art school students, amateur and professional groups.

After each area covered, the student prepares technical training and searches for dances in the literature related to the area, develops a methodological procedure for teaching.
